Creating Ads

Creating ads is the primary purpose of the plugin. There are three basic types of ad that can be managed with AdSanity - ads hosted on-site, ads that are part of an external network, or HTML5 ads.

For ads hosted on-site, you'll need the artwork for the ad. This artwork may be a standard JPG, PNG or GIF file sized for your specific ad unit.

With an external ad network, you'll need the ad code specific to the network. You can create ads from different ad networks if you've signed up for multiple networks.

For an HTML5 ad you'll want to create a zip file containing all of your ad assets so you can upload it to AdSanity.

When creating ads one of the first things you'll need to know is where you're placing the ad on your page and what size the ad unit is for the ads you're creating. AdSanity comes with the standard sizes acknowledged by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB). The IAB is an advertising business organization that develops industry standards, conducts research, and provides legal support for the online advertising industry. You can also create your own custom sized ad locations with our free add-on, Custom Ad Sizes. Make note of the size of your ad units as this will affect your ads hosted on site and what ads you can display from an external ad network as well.

Of special note when creating ads using these methods, ads hosted on-site have their views and clicks tracked via AdSanity, external ad networks and HTML5 ads have their views tracked, but their clicks are tracked by the tools available from the supplying network or in the case of HTML5 ads the clicks are not tracked.

For expanded reporting you can always add the Google Analytics Tracking Integration Add-On to track both views and clicks for all ad types.
